The Joy Collective is a new UK based live cross-artform production and platform initiative. Led by music artist duo Drunk With Joy, the Joy Collective fosters exceptional professional emerging visual and performing artists by presenting their work in new ways to new audiences,
thereby and encouraging them to develop an open approach to taking artistic risks, embracing new technologies and working collaboratively.
Currently, the Joy Collective comprises five choreographers/ dance artists, three digital media artists/filmmakers and six visual artists, all from the South West of the UK. At the centre of the Joy Collective concept is an ever-evolving live multi-media showcase, which presents individual bodies of work by the artists as well as work collaboratively produced by them.
By utilising new media and digital media technologies, and blurring the boundaries of art forms such as contemporary dance, the visual arts, film and live music, the Joy Collective aims to challenge our perception of art in all its forms.
The Joy Collective’s sell-out 2008 pilot showcase is currently being developed into a full-length live multi-media experience, including more talented emerging artists and exciting new work. Using live feeds, projections and digital video production, it will present fifteen bodies of work in sculpture, photography, film, painting, animation, drawing, digital media, printmaking, mixed media, poetry and a wide variety of live contemporary dance, on a live music soundtrack.
The Joy Collective will tour its showcase from this Autumn 2009, starting with a number of key South West arts venues, followed by national and international dates in 2010 and beyond.
