Joy Collective is a new UK based live cross-artform production and platform initiative, which fosters exceptional emerging or mid-career artists of different disciplines. Currently, Joy Collective comprises five choreographers/dance artists, four digital media artists/filmmakers and six visual artists from across the South West of the UK.
At the centre of Joy Collective is an ever-evolving live touring showcase which presents individual bodies of work by its artists, as well as work collaboratively produced by them, on a live soundtrack by subversive electronic music artist duo Drunk With Joy. By utilising digital media technologies and blurring the boundaries of dance, fine art, film, lyricism and live music, Joy Collective aims to challenge the way in which each art form is traditionally presented and perceived.
Though each Joy Collective artist and body of work is completely unique, what unites all involved is a passion for art as a powerful tool to raise awareness and inspire change. Many Joy Collective artists are, each in their own way, driven by themes of social, political or environmental relevance as well as beauty.
Joy Collective's showcase is a live concert, a visual arts exhibition, a cinema screening, a digital media experiment and a contemporary dance showcase, all in one. In any case, it is an experience you are unlikely to have encountered before and will probably not forget for a long time after.
